Garden

Last week I took a visit to the school garden. In early Term 1, a garden was built near the staff parking lot and since then the staff have been contributing to the garden’s growth.

Garden 2

Since Week 2 in Term 1, Miss Wheildon, Mrs Hollis and Mrs Moroney have been running a garden at the school. Every lunch a group of students gather at the garden to tend to it.

The garden is all inclusive with everyone from K-6 being able to engage in activities such as; mulching, watering, picking up rubbish and snacking on vegetables.

Everyone here gets a job and gets involved with the gardening. Not to mention that all of the children are kind, caring and thoughtful about their peers and the garden.

The students grow all sorts of herbs including thyme, chilli, chives, oregano and lemongrass. They grow vegetables ranging from carrots, cucumbers and peas to spinach and lettuce. The plants have been thriving with the continued care towards them.

All of the kids enjoy the garden and the educational activities that they participate in. So why not pop down to the garden and check it out for yourself?
